Cupcake Party

Cupcake Party Ideas & Decorations

Cupcakes are not only yummy to eat but they also make a fabulous party theme.  Cupcakes are cute, fun, colorful, festive and tasty! All the ingredients of a great party.  This is a fabulous theme for a girl’s party at any age!

Like always you should carry your cupcake theme throughout your party.  Think of cupcakes when choosing your decorations.  When choosing decorations you can be literal with cupcakes on your plates, tablecloths, etc. or you can choose to be not so literal by choosing bright colors and fun patterns.

Personal Touches

  • Use cupcake liners in unique ways. A cupcake liner makes a cute candy dish.
  • Purchase decorative or colorful cupcake liners and fill them with small candy such as M&Ms, Skittles, Reeses Pieces or Gummy Bears.
  • You can even use these as centerpieces, putting several candy filled cupcake liners together.  Add balloons and you have a unique centerpiece.
  • Use cupcake liners to make "cupcake line" garland or "cupcake liner" trees.
  • A cupcake birthday party is about cupcakes but it's also about bright colors and girly things. Fresh flowers are an appropriate decoration for a cupcake party.  Not only do fresh flowers provide a wonderful fragrance to your party they also add a colorful touch.
  • Candy and cupcakes go hand in hand.  Decorate with candy such as scattering colorful candy on your tables as confetti (make sure it's wrapped).
  • Gum drop garland.  String gum drops (or any gummy candy) using string with a needle and push the needle through the gum drops.  Decorate your banisters or hang from the ceiling.

Cupcake Party Favors

Goody Bag Ideas -  Add a few special favors that scream cupcake party such as a cupcake recipe, sprinkles to decorate cupcakes or  cupcake mix.

Cupcake Party Ideas & Activities

Decorate Cupcakes

  1. Prepare cupcakes in advance of the party but do not decorate or ice them.
  2. Set up a station for the kids to decorate their own cupcake.
  3. Provide, icing/frosting, sprinkles, whipped cream, writing gel and candy. Let the kids decorate their cupcakes and then provide cupcake boxes or cellophane bags for them to transport their cupcakes home…or let them eat them at the party!!

Pin the Candle on the Cupcake

Just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but using a Cupcake and Candles! Find the Pin the Candle Game here.

Guess How Many

Provide a jar filled with candy such as Hershey Kisses or Life Savers and have the kids guess how many are in the jar. The guest that comes closest wins.

Decorate your own apron

Provide the children with their own white aprons and fabric markers. Let the kids personalize the aprons with their names and drawings. These can also double as a party favor!

Cupcake Hunt

Have a treasure hunt where the kids have to find all the ingredients to making a cupcake such as flour, eggs, butter, sugar sprinkles and icing.

  1. Put a small amount of each ingredient in it's own small baggy and label it (we suggest using plastic eggs instead of real eggs).
  2.  Hide enough of each ingredient around the party area so that each child can find each ingredient. Then give the children a list of the ingredients they are hunting for.
  3. The child that finds all their ingredients first wins!
  4. For a twist you can bake the cupcakes with the found ingredients and let everyone eat them or take one home.  This can become hectic during a party so this is an added tip if you feel adventurous.

Note: if the children are to young to read then just have them find as many ingredients as they can.

Cupcake Pan Toss

  1. You will need small bean bags and a cupcake baking pan.
  2. Label each cup in the pan with a number. The first row will be the lowest numbers and number up from there.
  3. Each child gets 3 bean bags.  They stand a distance away from the cupcake pan and must throw the bean bags into the pan.
  4. Their score is a total of what numbered cups their bean bags were tossed into. The child with the highest score wins.

Cupcake Party Food

Cupcakes – Of course, you have to serve cupcakes. Make them look even more festive by putting them on a cupcake stand.
