A fun decoration your child can help with is airplane models. Put together airplane models with your child and use them as centerpieces. He will have fun doing it and be proud to have his projects displayed at the birthday party.
If the party is indoors create a sky. Use cotton or white balloons to make clouds. String the clouds across the ceiling using fishing wire. Hang toy or model airplanes from the ceiling.
Balloons are a must at all parties. Light blue and white will work great!
Check with your local airports and flight training schools to see if they can provide a tour and possibly a party room. You'd be surprised, but some airports actually do this for kids parties.
Put a large map on the wall. If your family travels, circle all the places you've traveled with your kids.
Decorate your driveway by turning it into a runway. Using chalk draw a line down the center with arrows. Hang a sign on the door saying "Terminal and whatever age your child is".
